Open Day for students from the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region

Control and Non-Destructive Testing, little known to the general public, hides an essential activity guaranteeing the safety of products for the safety of people and property.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of checks are carried out on planes, trains, bridges, in nuclear power plants, in refineries, foundries, boilermaking or on automobile equipment components.

Thus, engineers, technicians and control agents specialized in NDT implement a set of methods on materials or industrial installations in order to detect internal or surface anomalies and prevent any failure. To cope with the sharp increase in activity in the energy and aeronautics sectors, but also to compensate for the upcoming wave of retirements, companies will have to call on new skills. However, they encounter difficulties in hiring due to a lack of qualified personnel.

In a common desire of member companies of the Confederation, and with the support of regional organizations and institutions, the COFREND open day, on May 20, 2026, will offer students and job seekers the opportunity to discover and understand the NDT environment and its professions.

Participants will also be able to find out about existing training opportunities, both initial and professional.

The day, divided between conferences-round tables and demonstrations of methods in workshops, will offer privileged moments of exchange between students, professionals, experts and industrialists in the Non-Destructive Inspection and Testing sector.
